The ePlane Company, Noida International Airport Sign MoU to Build Advanced Air Mobility Infrastructure

- The ePlane Company and Noida International Airport have signed an MoU to develop infrastructure and operational systems for Advanced Air Mobility and eVTOL services.
- Noida International Airport will provide space for proof-of-concept trials, vertiports and charging stations, while ePlane will work on regulatory clearances, prototyping and flight testing.
- - The partnership is expected to support future airport-to-airport travel, intra-city air mobility and emergency air ambulance services in Delhi-NCR and surrounding regions.
Chennai, October 8, 2026: The ePlane Company, operated by Ubifly Technologies Private Limited, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Noida International Airport to jointly develop infrastructure and operating systems for Advanced Air Mobility services, including electric air taxis, airport connectivity and emergency air ambulance operations.
The partnership will focus on developing the regulatory procedures, vertiport systems, charging infrastructure and operational framework needed to deploy ePlane’s flagship e200X electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft, or eVTOL.
Partnership Targets Electric Air Taxi Infrastructure

The agreement marks a significant infrastructure-focused step in ePlane’s plans to bring electric air mobility services closer to commercial operations in India.
While eVTOL development is often centred on aircraft engineering and certification, the companies said their collaboration will also address the ground infrastructure and operational systems required for such aircraft to operate safely.
Under the agreement, the partners will work on Standard Operating Procedures, Vertiport Management Systems and the broader operational ecosystem required for the e200X aircraft.
The proposed use cases include airport-to-airport transportation, short-distance urban travel and air ambulance services.
The MoU follows the public unveiling of ePlane’s full-scale e200X PT-01 prototype, which is currently undergoing ground testing. According to the company, the partnership is intended to ensure that airport infrastructure and airspace integration develop alongside the aircraft itself.
Noida International Airport to Support Vertiports and Charging
As part of the collaboration, Yamuna International Airport Private Limited, or YIAPL, will allocate space within the Noida International Airport premises for proof-of-concept trials.
The planned infrastructure will include areas for vertiports and charging stations.
The airport will also work on aligning its Standard Operating Procedures to accommodate future eVTOL services.
This infrastructure could become important as electric aircraft developers move from prototype testing towards real-world passenger and emergency transport operations.
Unlike conventional aircraft, eVTOL systems may require a new combination of airport processes, charging systems, landing areas, fleet management software and air traffic coordination.
ePlane to Pursue DGCA and BCAS Clearances
The ePlane Company will focus on securing necessary approvals from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation and the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security.
It will also continue prototyping and flight testing of the e200X aircraft.
Both organisations plan to work jointly with regulators, Air Traffic Control and state governments to establish safety frameworks for Advanced Air Mobility operations.
The collaboration will also explore AI-assisted fleet scheduling, Vertiport Management Systems and integration with smart city systems.
The regulatory element is likely to be one of the most important parts of the project, as commercial electric air taxi operations require coordination between aircraft certification, airport operations, security frameworks and air traffic management.
ePlane Eyes Step-by-Step Transition to Piloted Flights
Dr. Satyanarayanan Chakravarthy, Founder and Director of The ePlane Company, said that deploying electric air taxis requires more than developing the aircraft itself.
He said infrastructure, regulations and operating procedures need to advance at the same time.
According to Chakravarthy, the partnership will allow the company to test operating models using drone trials before moving towards piloted e200X flights.
He said the objective is to ensure that airport infrastructure is prepared by the time the aircraft completes certification, with the long-term aim of reducing travel time in congested urban areas and enabling zero-emission passenger and medical transportation.
Noida International Airport Sees AAM as Part of Future Connectivity
Daniel Bircher, Chairman of Noida International Airport, said Advanced Air Mobility fits into the airport’s long-term strategy of developing future-ready infrastructure.
He said integrating AAM into the airport framework is part of its broader focus on seamless and multi-modal connectivity.
The airport expects the partnership to help develop the ground infrastructure and operating procedures required for zero-emission air transportation and emergency services in the Delhi-NCR region.
e200X Moves Through India’s Emerging eVTOL Ecosystem
Founded in 2019 and incubated at the IIT Madras Incubation Cell, The ePlane Company is developing electric aircraft for passenger transport, emergency medical services and cargo applications.
The company operates from the IIT Madras Discovery Campus in Thaiyur, Chennai, where it has a dedicated eVTOL prototyping, manufacturing and testing facility spanning more than 60,000 square feet.
According to the company, it became the first private aerospace entity in India to receive a formal Design Organisation Approval from the DGCA for electric aircraft.
Its flagship e200X has also entered the DGCA’s Type Certification process, the company said.
ePlane has reported more than 10,000 kilometres of cumulative physical flight testing across its ATVA and e50 technology demonstrators.
The company says its aircraft use its patented “Synergistic Lift” technology and are designed around a compact 8-by-11-metre footprint.
Its wider commercial strategy includes passenger air taxis, air ambulances and middle-mile urban cargo services.
Advanced Air Mobility Could Expand Delhi-NCR Connectivity
The agreement comes as airports and aerospace companies worldwide explore electric aircraft as a potential new mode of short-distance transportation.
For Delhi-NCR, the use case could be particularly significant because of long road travel times and congestion between airports, commercial areas and neighbouring cities.
However, large-scale deployment will depend on several factors, including regulatory approval, aircraft certification, infrastructure development, operating economics and passenger adoption.
The MoU between The ePlane Company and Noida International Airport is therefore an early-stage but important attempt to build both the aircraft ecosystem and the ground infrastructure required to support commercial eVTOL services.
Noida International Airport itself is being developed and operated by YIAPL, a wholly owned subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG. Its masterplan allows for future expansion to serve more than 70 million passengers annually.
As ePlane progresses with testing and certification of the e200X, the airport partnership could become a practical testing ground for how Advanced Air Mobility systems may eventually integrate with India’s conventional aviation and urban transport networks.
